Suspect has prolonged standoff in Pasture

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports, that on Friday, December 30th, Deputy Herman Olvera responded to a call on Blaschke Rd. West of Schulenburg about a suspicious vehicle that had driven onto the caller's property and struck a tree before driving back to the road and stopping.
Upon contact the driver refused to speak with Deputy Olvera or exit the vehicle. The subject stated to Deputy Olvera that he was in the process of using drugs and that he had weapons in the vehicle before then fleeing in the vehicle into a nearby pasture were a prolonged standoff ensued while additional units began arriving on scene and setting up the perimeter.
The Subject refused to exit the vehicle or speak with Deputies, periodically moving the vehicle around within the pasture, honking the horn, and openly smoking an unknown substance.
Multiple Attempts were made to negotiate with the subject who eventually exited the vehicle but still refused to comply with orders. Deputies then took the subject into custody.
The Subject from Cedar Park was transported to a hospital in Austin for medical treatment.
