DONALD BACKEN AGE 77 OF LINCOLN

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 21, at St. John Lutheran Church in Lincoln. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 20, from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Monday, September 21, from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The family will be present Sunday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Don is survived by his wife, Pat Backen of Lincoln; three daughters, Monica Spiller and husband William of Bastrop, Nicole Stobbs and husband Kevin of College Station, and Caitlin Barnum and husband Andrew of Lincoln; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two siblings, Dennis Backen and wife Carolyn of Willis, and Betty Harriss and husband Jim of Colorado; two brothers-in-law, Vernon Umlang and wife Sandra of Giddings, and Dennis Umlang and wife Cynthia of Conroe, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
