The Weimar VFD was dispatched for mutual aid with Oakland VFD at 4:15 yesterday morning for a structure fire in the 1100 block of Caroleta Ranch Road. Upon arrival, firefighters found the large two story home filled with smoke and fire attempting to penetrate the metal roof. After several attempts fighting through very heavy smoke, the fire was contained to an upstairs bathroom. The home suffered heavy smoke and water damage, while interior firefighters kept the fire damage to a minimum. All occupants escaped the home quickly after being woken up by a very strong lightning strike that struck the home’s roof. Assisting on scene were Sheridan VFD, Columbus VFD, Colorado County Sheriffs office, Colorado County EMS.
