Representatives from several schools in Fayette County recently attended a meeting at the Fayette County Agriculture building in LaGrange. The meeting was organized by Zach Velasquez, the Chief Juvenile Probation Officer for Fayette County and the Juvenile Board of the County which is compromised to District Judge Jeff Steinhauser, County Judge Dan Mueller, and Stacy Eilers, Assistant Superintendent of LaGrange Independent School District. The Main topic of discussion was what is known as the mentor program for all of the schools in Fayette County. The Mentor Program, using positive role models in the Community to help guide students, is currently successful in Schulenburg and is in the beginning stages at the LaGrange ISD. Judge Mueller said, "It is the hope of the Juvenile Board that this program can be offered at all schools here in Fayette County."
