Narcotics Arrest West of LaGrange

On Sunday February 25th, 2024 at 7:16 pm, the La Grange Police Department was dispatched to a possible kidnapping attempt which allegedly occurred. The caller advised his wife was approached by two Hispanic males who got out of their vehicle, leaving the doors open and walked up to her car. The female drove away once the men neared her vehicle.
La Grange Police Officers provided Fayette County Deputies with a description of the vehicle. The vehicle was described as an older model white box van. The direction of travel and license plate on the vehicle was unknown.
Sgt. Ryan Meagher located a vehicle matching the description provided and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle on SH-71 westbound near Makinson Road, west of LaGrange.
Contact was made with the driver and Meagher was able to confirm this was the vehicle involved in the original incident.
After further investigation, the driver was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and marijuana.
Orlando Catano (55) of Houston, Texas was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Marijuana.
At this time it is believed no kidnapping attempt occurred and no charges were filed in reference to the original incident.
