Highspeed Chase in Ellinger

According to Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek, On January 30th at approximately 1:06am, Deputy Jason Fowler conducted a welfare check on a vehicle parked at a convenience store in the 100 block of State Highway 71 in Ellinger. Deputy Fowler made contact with a female subject who was identified as Clorisa Franklin (29) of New Mexico. Clorisa had the rear windows of the vehicle covered. After obtaining and running her information, it was learned that Clorisa had multiple warrants out for her arrest from different states. While Deputy Fowler was speaking with Clorisa, she took off out of the parking lot and onto State Highway 71 with no lights on. Deputy Fowler activated his overhead emergency lights/siren and pursued. Clorisa reached speeds of over 100 mph and turned around multiple times during the pursuit. Deputy Wesly Arrison successfully deployed a tire deflation device. The vehicle then came to a safe stop in the driveway of a classic car dealership in the 4600 block of State Highway 71. She was taken into custody without further incident. Deputies then located her three children ages 2,6, & 9 in the back of the vehicle. The children were released to Child Protective Services. Clorisa Franklin was arrested for the two warrants: One out of New Mexico for Custodial Interference and one out of Brazoria County for Assault Causes Bodily Injury Family Violence. Additionally she was charged with Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle and Endangering a Child.
Also Assisting with the arrest were Deputies Cody Williams, Duane Meagher, and Sergeant Ben Wilson.
