Vehicle Theft in Bastrop County

On Wednesday, December 13, 2023, Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 100 Block of Maravillas Bend, in the New Colony subdivision of Bastrop County for multiple reports of Burglary of a Motor Vehicle. During their investigation a stolen vehicle reported out of Austin Police Department was recovered in the area. Additionally, two vehicles from homeowners living in the area were reported stolen as well.
The Sheriff’s Office is working to review and possibly identify potential suspects from security cameras in the area that captured the events. There is a potential that not all victims have become aware of the thefts and break-ins that are occurring.
The Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to check their vehicles and property and contact our agency if a report needs to be made. The Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office would also like to remind the public that we are seeing a rise in this type of activity and are working diligently to stop, capture, and prosecute those responsible. With the Christmas holiday approaching, all citizens are asked to remain vigilant, remove valuables from plain sight, and lock their vehicles.
