According to Emergency Management Coordinator Angela Hahn, The Fire that took place on August 15th was off of Kirtly Road at the Fayette-Bastrop County line. A total of 63 acres burned with LaGrange, Muldoon, Smithville, Heart of the Pines Fire departments responding as well as Texas Forest Service. Fayette County EMS and FCSO also responded as did DPS. SH 71 was closed intermittently during the dire and was completely reopened at 8:30pm. One abandoned Structure was burnt. According to LaGrange Fire Chief Frank Menefee the fire was started by a Hay Bailer.
