Intoxication arrests were made on August 9th by Schulenburg Police Officers
According to a report from the Schulenburg Police Department...On Wednesday, August 9, at approximately 1:15 am, Officers responded to the 3 Oaks RV Resort for a report of 2 intoxicated males being loud and letting their dog run loose.
Officers arrived and spoke with the subjects who were actively consuming beer and displayed multiple signs of intoxication including slurred speech. The owner of the dog, who was in violation of the City Ordinance requiring all dogs to be on a leash was requested to provide ID.
The other male decided it was wise to give legal advice and advised the owner against providing ID and began yelling at Officers claiming he knew his rights. The male proceeded to make sovereign citizen claims saying they do not have to answer to laws put forth by the government.
Due to their level of intoxication and posing a threat to themselves and others, both were arrested for Public Intoxication. Both subjects also continued refusing to willingly provide any ID. Leading to both also being charged with Failure to Identify.
With the help of the property manager and a search of their persons incident arrest, the 2 fine individuals were identified as, Jairo Avila (34), of Ennis, and Joseph Heflin (21), of New Mexico.
Both subjects were transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center for booking.
