Giddings Water Restrictions
The City of Giddings has gone into Stage 2 Water Restrictions after discovering that one of their four water wells has suddenly become inoperable, that means 500 fewer gallons per minute is being pumped into the storage tanks. The City is asking residents, effective immediately, to implement voluntary water use restrictions.
The Plan Includes:
Customers with an address ending in an even number should limit the irrigation of their landscaped areas to Sundays and Thursdays,
Customers with an address ending in an Odd number should limit the irrigation of their landscaped areas to Saturdays and Thursdays.
They recommend doing the irrigation between the hours of 8pm to midnight, or midnight to 10am on designated days.
Water Customers are requested to minimize or discontinue water use for non-essential purposes.
With the Water Shortage, the Giddings Splash Pad is going to be closed for the rest of the summer. However, the municipal swimming pool will remain open.
Plans are underway to begin drilling for a replacement well, which city officials hope will start within the next 21 days.
