Multiple fires in Schulenburg

Schulenburg Volunteer Fire Department responded to a couple of fires Tuesday afternoon requiring a multi-agency response to bring the fires under control.
The first call came in at 12:06pm, when the Schulenburg Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to assist Station 3 Flatonia Fire and Rescue. Crews arrived to the I-10 rest area, West of Flatonia, where they successfully extinguished a container fire.
Just over an hour later at 1:23pm, emergency personnel were called out again to reports of a grass fire burning off FM 1383. Officials immediately requested mutual aid from the Weimar Fire Department. Crews from both departments arrived on the scene quickly, working side-by-side to establish a perimeter and rapidly contain the fire. Authorities confirmed that both scenes were cleared and no injuries were reported in either incident.
