Suspect in Custody after Fleeing from Pursuit

Officers with the Smithville PD were involved in a pursuit that ended on Mountain Valley Road in rural Bastrop County. The driver exited the vehicle and ran into a wooded area. Officers conducted a search of the immediate area to include assistance with a drone from an assisting agency. The suspect was not located during this search. Upon inventory of the suspect vehicle officers located marijuana, alcoholic beverages and a pistol magazine..
After the scene was cleared on Mountain Valley Rd. The officers continued to investigate and identify the driver after talking to subjects at a residence in town. Based upon information obtained and the officer’s own observations they were able to conclude who they believed the driver was. They spoke to family members of the suspect who validated that the car was his.
Warrants for the suspect’s arrest have been made and the suspect is now in custody.
