Fire in the Winchester Area

Sheriff Keith Korenek reports on 02-22-26 Sunday afternoon around 04:39 pm the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a structure fire on River Bend Rd. in the Winchester area.
The Winchester Fire Department was notified and responded along with Fayette County Unit Medic 1, EMS Supervisor 3, Deputy Wesley Arrison, and Sgt. Ron Naumann. Upon arrival it was reported a two car garage fully engulfed. The Winchester Fire Department quickly contained the fire and it was extinguished. The owner of the property was attempting to start a vehicle in the garage when the engine area ignited and he sustained burns to his arm and chest area. He was taking to Smithville Hospital in a private auto prior to EMS arrival.
