National Weather Service Predicting Artic Blast
The National Weather Service is growing more confident that the majority of Texas will see freezing temperatures and possible freezing rain beginning Friday evening."Both the NWS offices out of Austin-San Antonia and Houston-Galveston are forecasting an artic blast to reach Central and Southeast Texas by Friday evening with freezing rain across the Hill Country and Austin through Saturday night. However, at this time, forecasters arent certain how long the freezing temperatures will last and how far south the ice line sets up." said Angela Hahn, Fayette County emergency management coordinator.
"The impacts of the winter weather are still three- to four days out so the predictive models can possibly change. It is important to prepare for the worst case scenario. Protect your pets, pipes, and plants."
