Money Seized During OLS Operation

On Wednesday, January 7, Officer Powe and K9 Semper went to Atascosa County to participate in an Operation Lone Star Task Force operation.
While there, deputies with the Lavaca County Sheriff's Office requested K9 Semper for a free air sniff of a vehicle after the driver denied consent.
K9 Semper alerted to the odor of illegal narcotics and a probable cause search was conducted. During the search $34,000 believed to be proceeds from criminal activity along with a loaded handgun were located.
The driver, James McCain, of San Juan, was arrested for Money Laundering $30K-$150K, Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity, Unlawful Carrying a Weapon, and Endangering a Child as a 4 year old was in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
