Smithville Man passes after vehicle strikes him

On 10/11/25 at 7:34pm Officers were dispatched to Super Donuts on Loop 230 for an unresponsive male laying in the parking lot. Upon arrival Officers located the male subject and began CPR until EMS arrival at which time he was transported to a hospital in Austin, TX. The initial investigation suggested he may have been struck by a vehicle and the driver had fled the scene.
The male subject identified as Mr. Jimmie Lee Jones of Smithville, Tx. passed away from injuries sustained from the vehicle striking him.
An investigation was initiated and on 10/12/25 Detectives and Officers were able to track the suspect vehicle to the Pflugerville area. With assistance from the Travis County Sheriff's Office the vehicle was located and seized as evidence.
On 10/14/25 at approximately 9:30pm Officers arrested Ricky James Stevens of Smithville, Tx for the offense of manslaughter. He was taken into custody and remanded to the Bastrop County Jail without incident. Be advised that all persons charged with an offense are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
