Drug Arrest near Engle

Sheriff Keith Korenek reports on Friday afternoon around 11:17 am, Drug Interdiction Investigator David Smith conducted a traffic stop on a 2018 Honda Van on I-10 E/B near Engle for a traffic violation.
Upon contact with the driver Smith observed the driver with conflicting travel patterns and a consent to search was denied and Schulenburg P.D. canine Officer Byron Powe and his canine “Semper“ were called to assist at the scene. Located in the vehicle was 7 Kilos of Cocaine with a street value of $245,000.00.
Arrested was 29 yr. old Daniel Lugo of Houston. He was transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.
