Stolen Vehicle recovered in Weimar

Earlier this week, Weimar Police Department's Sergeant Ellis received information regarding a possible stolen vehicle in the area. The vehicle was suspected of having a fraudulent VIN in an attempt to avoid detection.
Utilizing local License Plate Readers (LPRs), Sgt. Ellis was able to quickly locate the vehicle and initiate a traffic stop on IH-10 within the city limits of Weimar. Through further investigation, the vehicle was confirmed to have been reported stolen out of Bexar County.
The driver was arrested on charges of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and transported without incident to the Colorado County Jail. The vehicle will be returned to its rightful owner.
