Schulenburg ISD Warns Parents about Dangerous Social Media Trend

Schulenburg School District has issued this statement. There has been a Dangerous Tiktok trend circulating recently, which we need to bring to your attention. Students have been encouraged to force electrical short circuits on Chromebook devices by inserting items into the usb port. This action can spark or puncture the lithium battery in the device and pose a serious fire risk.
Parents beware that if your student chooses to engage in this trend they could face serious consequences such as but not limited to
-Approximately $300 in replacement cost
-School Consequences such as ISS and/or DAEP
-Loss of Technology Use
Please talk to your student about the importance of appropriate use of our district technology resources and the consequences of their actions.
