Austin Co. K9 Unit assists in Drug Bust in Fayette Co.

During the early morning hours of March 26th, Austin County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Buitron and his K9 “Knox” assisted with an investigation that concluded in Fayette County, Texas. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office requested a K9 unit to assist with a multi-agency investigation involving a vehicle that was suspected to be transporting a large amount of illegal narcotics. Once on scene, Deputy Buitron deployed ACSO K9 “Knox” who alerted on the suspected vehicle. A search of that vehicle resulted in the seizure of approx. 585 Kilograms of Methamphetamine.
Currently Deputy Buitron is assigned to the Westside Narcotics Task Force (HIDTA) as a Task Force Officer, Deputy Buitron and K9 “Knox” assist all agencies in Austin and surrounding counites on a daily basis.
The Westside Narcotics Task Force (HIDTA) covers five counties and is comprised of investigators from the Austin County Sheriff’s Office, Bellville PD, Sealy PD, Hempstead PD, Waller County Sheriff’s Office, Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Colorado County Sheriff’s Office, Lavaca County Sheriff’s Office, and the United States Drug Enforcement Administration.
