Bastrop County Sheriff Maurice Cook has released the following statement, It has come to our attention there is some misinformation circulating on social media about the shooting that occurred at 6:18pm on 10-2-24. The Bastrop County Emergency Communications Center received a call reporting the shooting at the Bastrop County Nature Park on E. Riverside Dr. in Tahitian Village. The responding deputies learned that 2 male individuals were involved in a dispute that resulted in one of them being shot. He was transported by EMS to an area hospital with a-non life-threating gunshot wound. There is no threat to the public. All those involved were immediately identified and the proper law enforcement action taken. The investigation continues.
