Search Warrant leads to Arrest in Columbus
On Monday, June 24th at approximately, 11:45 PM, Members of the Austin County Regional Special Response Team (SRT) conducted an operation to execute arrest and search warrants in Columbus, Texas. The operation was the result of an ongoing narcotics investigation by the Westside (HIDTA) Narcotics Task Force. As a result of the operation, defendant Eric Belmonte (39) was located and arrested for an active felony warrant for the charge of Manufacture and/or Delivery of a Controlled Substance PG 1. The defendant was taken into custody without incident. A search warrant was executed at the defendant’s residence in the 400 blk of Jones Street, in Columbus. Task Force Officers seized Crack Cocaine, Powder Cocaine, Methamphetamine, MDMA, Marijuana, Fentanyl, and United States Currency. The defendant was later booked into the Colorado County Jail.The Westside Narcotics Task Force covers four counties and is comprised of investigators from the Austin County Sheriff’s Office, Bellville PD, Sealy PD, Hempstead PD, Waller County Sheriff’s Office, Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Colorado County Sheriff’s Office, and DEA.
