Bastrop County Resident Sentenced to 35 years for Murder

A Bastrop County resident has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for murder. 29 year old Casey Bailey was convicted and sentenced for the murder of Lee County Resident Donnetta Sullivan. The murder occurred on November 6th, 2022. According to reports by investigators, Casey Bailey and Donetta Sullivan had began a friendship about a month before the murder. The 2 had been living together at a rural location near the borders of Lee County and Bastrop County. According to the Giddings Times and News, Casey Bailey had been taking hormone treatments to transition from a female to a male. On the evening of November 6th of 2022, Law Enforcement Officers found the body of Donetta Sullivan on the property where the 2 had been living. According to reports, Bailey struck Sullivan with a passenger vehicle as she was walking on a road. Bailey then shot her 8 times with a handgun. The 35 year prison sentence was handed down at the Bastrop County Courthouse in Bastrop.
