Fayette Co. Narcotics K-9 Unit Seizes 23 Kilos of Cocaine
Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on October 31st, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Canine Unit, SGT Randy Thumann and KP Partner Kolt, stopped an 18 wheeler by pulling a flatbed trailer on I-10 at the 658 mile-marker at approximately 12:45PM for a traffic violation. After speaking to the driver SGT Thumann observed many indicators the vehicle was being utilized to smuggle narcotics from Mexico into the U.S. SGT Thumann was given consent to search the vehicle. SGT Thumann discovered the trailers axles had been altered to conceal contraband. SGT removed approximately 23 kilos of cocaine with a street value of $2.3 million Dollars from the Trailers Axles. The driver Carlos Enrique Ruiz Rubullosa of Monterrey, MX was arrested for Felony Drug possession and taken to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center.
