Vehicle Theft Arrest in Flatonia

Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on the morning of Monday Oct. 30th Deputies responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle parked at a business in the Flatonia Area. Upon further investigation the vehicle was determined to be stolen out of San Antonio and a vehicle belonging to the business was found to be missing. Later in the Afternoon an employee of the business called and reported someone driving their stolen vehicle had come back to the business before leaving again. Lt. David Beyer and Deputy Mark Zimmerman were in the area and initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle with the assistance of the Flatonia Police Department. Three Juveniles and Three Adults were removed from the vehicle.
The case and suspects were handed over to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office Investigations division for further investigation. Investigator Kenn Kretz and other Investigators in the CID unit conducted numerous interviews and coordinated with multiple CPS offices, personnel, and care facilities to identify the individuals involved. After further investigation it was determined that all six individuals were wards of the state who had runaway from various care facilities. The subjects were responsible for multiple vehicle thefts in San Antonio and the Stolen Vehicle in Fayette County.
The Three juvenile subjects were detained, processed, and released back to CPS. Arrested and booked into the Dan R. Beck Justice Center were Leah Martinez age 17 of Conroe and Mason Goodwin age 17 of Conroe, for the offense of Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity. Also Arrested was Miguel Leos age 17 of San Antonio for the offense of Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.
