Fayette County Narcotics K-9 Unit Seizes 2 Kilos of Cocaine and $10K Cash on Traffic Stop
Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on Wednesday, October 10th, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Canine Unit, Sgt Randy Thumann and K9 partner Kolt, stopped a Volkswagen Passenger Car on Interstate 10 at the 655 mile marker near Flatonia approximately 12:15pm for a traffic violation. After speaking to the driver SGT Thumann became suspicious that the driver may be involved in transporting illegal narcotics. SGT Thumann was given consent to search the vehicle. SGT Thumann deployed his canine partner Kolt to conduct an exterior sweep of the vehicle. Kolt alerted to the vehicle for the presence of illegal narcotics. Sgt Thumann Searched the vehicle and discovered approximately 2 kilos of Cocaine inside a cereal box and $10,000 inside of a headphones box. The narcotics have an estimated street value of $200,000. The driver Isidro Maldonado (29) from San Antonio was arrested for Felony Possession and Felony Money Laundering and taken to the Dan Beck Justice Center.
